Spring's Newsletter 2002
Welcome once again to our website. The winter months were busy as always, and we
look forward to another good year. Contact us for your latest note to include in
the newsletter, next one appears in June. A very heart-felt "Thanks" to Bank of
America for their successful yarn drive, this year. All of the bank sites in the
local Atlanta area were involved. This was the second year on the drive and many
worked very hard to collect yarn. Lots of yarn! It was wonderful. Your work was
so much appreciated and just in time too. If you have a favorite pattern
(crochet or knit), that you would like to summit, we will create a page for
directions on one of our lap-robes or blankets. There are often request for
instructions from new beginners and we know you ladies always have favorites. I
frequently get request for mailing list of the volunteers. Please be aware that
we do not make these list public. I greatly respect each volunteer and their
privacy. We now have the ability to alert you for each news update posted in the
Access Atlanta. If you wish to have this set up as a e-mail reminder, call us to
confirm and set-up. To all volunteers who may have found us thru "Hands on
Atlanta", PLEASE, send us an e-mail with your hours worked each month. I
apologize for not stressing the importance of this information, as we report
each month hours donated. E-mail or phone call is good. A sad farewell to
Maryjane Chappell. As one of our first volunteers in this organization, she
brought into our circle, the group, "Care Share". This group consist of Senior
citizens located in several of the high-rise centers in Atlanta. Maryjane
delivered a lot of yarn to these talented ladies and she will be greatly missed.
Her mother and Aunt, in Tennessee, continue to contribute blankets, now in her
memory. She worked for Georgia Tech 17 years. Her many friends and family will
miss her greatly. Angel Flight is currently forecasting over 1000 flights this
year. As you know, we are going to try any make sure each flight has on board, a
blanket for the staff to offer to person being transported. These are critical
flights, emergencies that deal in very serious moments. Hopeful that this gift,
in that moment, extends hope to them and their family. These will have a note
from "Ellie's Angels", explaining the gift and it origin. Big Job for all of us,
but, well worth the effort. Go Angels! Funding is at a Critical all time low. If
any have suggestions, step up! I am often reminded of how none of the wonderful
things that happen, would not be possible without your constant help. We have
touched so many lives and made a difference.
Thank You, Thank You,
Ellie
