Organizations that make the last step possible. Volunteers handcraft robes and afghans, then donate to Ellie's Angels. Next step is to deliver to needy recipients. We will feature stories and introductions to the organizations that make the final step complete.

I had a most wonderful time at "The Wellness Community", located on Peachtree Rd. NW, Atlanta, Georgia. Mrs. Sharon Shelton, Director of Volunteers and Special Events, gave us the grand tour. This beautiful center had a most happy and "much loved" atmosphere. Cancer patients and their families are guided thru an intense support program. Professionals teach Health Care classes, educational workshops, Art programs, special cooking classes focused on the needs of cancer recovery There are the "Fun" events as well. I must say that the entire facility had a very happy appearance. Licensed professionals, along with a decimated staff support the complete family structure while the patient goes thru treatment and recovery. Helping a husband and wife deal with breast cancer recovery, single parents that must cope with cancer and their children, cooking classes for all ages in a great kitchen. My personal favorite was the "KIDS CIRCLE." Art covered the walls with wonderful colors and happy faces. Kids are here as patients also, they meet other kids going thru treatments just like themselves. Professionals help guide these little ones thru the maze of new treatments, side-effects, all the different emotions that are hard for them to understand and cope with. They sit huddled in a warm, cozy blanket (Ellie's Angels type) and talk things thru.
