Some of the Hand-Made Blankets

What it is all about...

A MUST READ

For family and friends of every

returning veteran

UNTIL TUESDAY

by Fmr. Capt. Luis Carlos Montalvan

A wounded warrior and a Retriever

who saved him.

... Ellie tries to help all that request her help...

Meet Ellie     Ellie's Angels Philosophy:

Kindness and warmth for those of all races, religions or creeds.  No request for a blanket, lap-robe or simple act of kindness is ever refused.

Ellie's Angels began back in 1989 with a single gesture of kindness to someone who was sick and homeless.

Ellie's mission began that day and along with over 500 volunteers, continues to help thousands of men, women, and children, as they struggle with life and death issues.

We remind the world that God's message of Love and understanding extends to all of mankind.

The message is always the same, " No person should ever be alone and cold."

What's  New

DEATH OF MY BEST FRIEND

Last night at 10pm my best friend called. Her husband had turned off her
computer, her TV, and tucked her in.  A call from her this late was highly usual.  We laughed.
We solved some of the worlds problems. Then ended as usual with "love you".
This morning at 9am her husband called to tell me she had died at 2:12am, mere hours after our last goodbye.

Loretta and David had known each other for 65 years and had been married
for over 40.  She was brilliant, had several degrees, was a terrific
artist, seamstress. Great wife and mother and the best grandmother ever.
She loved the Braves and the Falcons. She had even sold instructional tapes on how to repair
and glue fine porcelains

I met David in 1975. He was a  television producer.  We remained friends
and somewhere in the early 80's I began a phone friendship with his wife.
We actually only saw each other 3 times in the 35 year span.

She had been in failing health all her life and suffered more than we can
imagine.  Two years ago when I went on oxygen she walked me through it.
She was a recluse for health reasons. I am a recluse by choice.  I really
like and enjoy people and love listening to their stories, but no longer
feel the need to be face to face. The television, Internet and phone were
the vehicles for our social life

While moderation was Loretta's middle name, mine would be passionately
excessive.  In other words we were complete opposites that just happened
to agree on politics, morals, and standards. She was not perfect, but was the
smartest woman I've ever known . We ranted, raved, yelled, and pulled
each other out of depression and despair.  We also laughed till we wet
our panties.  She was closer than a friend, really she was my family. She
was the best.... She is irreplaceable.......Rest In Peace.
